About Northern Doctors Workforce

The Medical Workforce team is committed to supporting both senior and junior medical staff. Our responsibilities include managing recruitment, rostering, leave, and pastoral support. For inquiries, please contact the Northern Doctors Workforce or Medical Workforce Recruitment.

Our team comprises experienced recruitment and operations specialists dedicated to supporting approximately 2,000 medical practitioners across Northern Health’s five campuses: Northern Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Broadmeadows Hospital, Kilmore Hospital, and Craigieburn Health Service.

We collaborate with Payroll, Human Resources, Clinical Units, the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV), and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to provide a unified and supportive contact point for all medical staff.

At Northern Doctors Education, we are committed to delivering exceptional education and training that empowers our doctors to provide safe, high-quality care in partnership with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team.

Our mission is to foster a culture of clinical excellence, lifelong learning, and professional wellbeing. We support and advocate for best practice in medical education while promoting the personal and professional development of our trainees.

Our core focus is on supporting prevocational medical trainees (PGY1 and PGY2) and newly arrived International Medical Graduates (IMGs) as they begin their medical careers in Australia.

We provide:

  • Structured weekly orientation program for interns at the beginning of the year
  • Structured hospital orientation for new doctors at the beginning of a new term

  • Comprehensive formal teaching programs for interns and HMOs – Intern Education program: Tuesday 12:30pm, HMO Education program: Thursday 12:30pm

  • Clinical skills workshops and simulation-based learning

  • Targeted support for assessments and individual learning plans aligned with the National Framework for Prevocational Medical Training\

  • Professional development

Working closely with Northern Doctors Workforce, we continuously enhance training quality and ensure our programs meet the evolving needs of our trainees and the healthcare system.
