Diversity & Inclusion

Creating a safe, inclusive workplace for everyone.

NH is a diverse, safe and inclusive health service where diversity is a strength. Everyone should feel safe and included with respect to: ethnicity, marital status, cultural background, gender, faith, age, sexuality, ability, citizen status. Cultural safety means feeling welcome and free from discrimination.

Diversity & Inclusion Committee

Safety and inclusion are supported through a governance structure — the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The Committee has five working groups which promote equity for disadvantaged groups. Below are three of these working group committees.

Rainbow (LGBTQIA+) Committee

Aims to create a workplace which is safe and inclusive for LGBTIQA+ staff and celebrates and acknowledges the strength in diversity. We aim to foster an environment and culture for our consumers which values their lived experience and engages with the community to develop, implement and maintain safe and inclusive best practice care.

Disability @ Northern Health

Committed to ensuring better outcomes for all people, including those with disability. Northern Health also seeks to be an employer of choice for all people.

Refugees & Asylum Seekers

The Northern Health Diversity Governance Committee has a working group to support our accountability to refugees and asylum seekers using our health services.
