The Northern JMSA holds several events throughout the year across our various portfolios. Events are tweaked over the years depending on junior doctor feedback. Here are a couple:


– end of rotation food + drinks

– Intern Valedictory drinks


– ultrasound guided IV cannulation (with ICU and medical education unit)

– ascitic tap theory and simulation

– International Medical Graduate (IMG) Mentor program + education sessions

– yearly purchase and prep of incoming Intern folders

– Easter chocolate surprises

– Christmas in July chocolates

– NB: chocolates during other cultural holidays suggested)

– Monthly Thursday Afternoon Teas (cookies and a chat in Ressies)

– Feel Good Friday Themes (monthly, e.g. everyone wears stripes in March)

– Paws for Thought, Teddy bear making with MIPs

Residential Quarters – our food deliveries are currently paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic

– Weekly Pizza (Friday lunchtime)

– Weekly (sometimes more often) Donuts in the evenings

– Weekly fruit (moving towards bi-weekly)

– Implementation of Recyclable Cutlery

– Wall decoration/consideration of new furniture

– Monthly single packaged snack deliveries
