Healthcare contributes to 7% of Australia’s carbon emissions. Learn how we can help the health system transition to net zero emissions!

About the course

This course is designed specifically for specialist medical trainees. It provides a comprehensive introduction to the links between health, healthcare and the environment. It introduces quality as a tool to create more environmentally and socially sustainable healthcare services, using the Sustainability in Quality Improvement (SusQI) approach. Delivered online, it is paced as a 5-week course over 7 weeks. Two breaks will allow trainees to consolidate learning. An optional additional session supports participants to develop a proposal for a workplace project.
You will learn from academics and health service professionals with extensive experience in these fields.

Who is this for?
This program is open to all RACP trainees. Those working in rural and/or private settings are especially welcome. Come along if you
✓ Are interested in environmentally, socially, and financially sustainable healthcare.
✓ Want to contribute to environmentally sustainable healthcare through quality improvement activities.
✓ Are looking for a project to meet training requirements.
The trainee supervisors can use supervision of a project for CPD hours.

What is SusQI?
SusQI recognises there are finite environmental, social and financial resources available to deliver a high standard of healthcare. The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (UK) has developed a 4-step approach to incorporating environmental sustainability into quality improvement for health services and this is the focus of the course.
