Pleural disease is common in medical practice. Worldwide recognition of the necessity of training and competency in thoracic ultrasound and pleural procedures to obtain best patient outcomes is growing rapidly.
COURSE CONTENT
- Explore thoracic ultrasound, the basics and beyond
- Small group teaching from thoracic ultrasound experts
- Practical experience of normal thoracic ultrasound and identification of pleural pathologies
- In-depth lectures on pleural pathology, optimal management and procedural techniques
- Simulation models for thoracentesis/chest tube placement
- Demonstration/experience of indwelling pleural catheter placement and aftercare
- Recognition and management of procedural complications
- Experience of digital drainage systems
- Assessment using UG-STAT for TSANZ accreditation
SUITABLE FOR: Physicians and trainees of General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Respiratory Medicine.
