We are delighted to invite you and your team to the Advance Care Planning Workshop, 2 July 2024, Bundoora Centre.
The workshop covers:
- Defining the key terms used in Advance Care Planning (MTDM, ACD)
- Communication tips and having difficult conversations with guest speaker, James Watt
- Identifying and understanding decision-making capacity
- Locating and utilising resources available to assist with Advance Care Planning throughout Northern Health
- Understanding the process of creating EMR Care Alerts, documenting in CPF and creating EMR Powerforms

ETM is a 3-day face-to-face course that teaches trauma reception and resuscitation from the Australasian Emergency Medicine perspective. The course has a strong focus on communication, in particular resuscitation room management, the shared mental model and closed loop communication.
ETM Course is relevant to medical staff who work in trauma centres, including metropolitan, regional and remote environments. The course is suitable for doctors from PGY2+ through to Fellows/Consultants who wish to learn the modern, ED focused approach to trauma reception and resuscitation.
ETM Course is accredited in Australia for CME/CPD by ACEM, CICM, RACGP and ACRRM. ANZCA and FPM CPD program participants may claim the ETM Course as a Major Haemorrhage emergency response activity.

Pleural disease is common in medical practice. Worldwide recognition of the necessity of training and competency in thoracic ultrasound and pleural procedures to obtain best patient outcomes is growing rapidly.
COURSE CONTENT
- Explore thoracic ultrasound, the basics and beyond
- Small group teaching from thoracic ultrasound experts
- Practical experience of normal thoracic ultrasound and identification of pleural pathologies
- In-depth lectures on pleural pathology, optimal management and procedural techniques
- Simulation models for thoracentesis/chest tube placement
- Demonstration/experience of indwelling pleural catheter placement and aftercare
- Recognition and management of procedural complications
- Experience of digital drainage systems
- Assessment using UG-STAT for TSANZ accreditation
