Improving Performance Process
Supporting prevocational doctors who are experiencing difficulties, with an emphasis on early identification, clear feedback, and practical support.
AMC Framework
The National Framework focuses on supporting prevocational doctors (PGY1 and PGY2) who are experiencing difficulties, with an emphasis on early identification, clear feedback, and practical support to improve performance.
Requirements for improving performance are outlined in Standard 2.5. The process has three phases:
Informal Feedback
- Early concerns are discussed with the term supervisor
- Focus on clear feedback and immediate support
Formal Action Plan
- A structured plan is developed if issues continue
- Sets clear goals, timelines, and support strategies
Managed Supervised Practice
- Increased supervision when concerns persist
- May include additional assessments to guide improvement
